Winner - SQA Star Awards 2018

05 December 2018

We are delighted to announce that the Good Shepherd Centre was awarded the Winner of the Innovation Award at the SQA Star Awards 2018 Ceremony.

It was recognised by our team that the young people had a lack of awareness about their Mental Health and Wellbeing, and they struggled to be able to recognise and differentiate between issues that they may experience as well as known how to get support.

A Quality Design Team was formed, which included staff from varied roles within the Good Shepherd Centre, Shelley Ferguson - English Teacher, Charlene Ferguson - Holistic Therapist Louise Gordon - CBT Therapist and Anne McKechnie - Clinical Forensic Phycologist. They worked on a proposed unit in Mental Health SCQF level 4, and the team contacted SQA, which resulted in us collaborating with them to develop 2 new awards in Mental Health & Wellbeing.

We were shortlisted for the 2018 SQA Star Award in Innovation. Shelley & Charlene from the Quality Design Team attended the ceremony which was held in the city’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and hosted by TV and radio presenter Kaye Adams and were overjoyed when the Good Shepherd Centre were announced as the winner on the Innovation Award.

The qualifications have the potential to have a major positive impact on the young people across the country.
