Referrals can be made to the local CAMHS Team. They offer advice on individual young people’s mental health and will attend if an emergency arises.
We fully recognise the importance of addressing the physiological wellbeing of our young people. Therefore we ensure all employees undertake specific training in mental health. In addition, we have developed close partnerships with other specialist services. This has resulted in a trauma consultant regularly visit us to provide support and advice to staff on how to meet the needs of young people and develop effective care plans. Young people have access to onsite Clinical and/or Forensic Psychologists and Cognitive Behavioural Therapists. All young people are given an initial mental health screening within 3 days of admission. If appropriate, a full mental health assessment will be undertaken.
