Residential Care Worker

The Good Shepherd Centre (GSC) offers secure care, close support & semi-independent living services and education and health and wellbeing support for vulnerable children, young people and young adults 12 to 17 years of age.

“Our purpose is to provide a positive, life-changing experience for young people through individual care, education and skills development”.

GSC offers children, young people and young adults a safe, nurturing and caring environment set in fabulous grounds with a garden wildlife trail and outdoor sports facility.  On campus there are three secure care houses, a close support house & two semi-independent living cottages and ‘Cora House’.  

The Residential Care Worker is a key position promoting and upholding the vision and values of the GSC as a place of care, safety and learning.  Our purpose is to provide a positive, life changing experience for young people through individual care, education and skills development focused on promoting young people’s mental and emotional wellbeing and longer term positive outcomes.

We are seeking to appoint caring, child-centred, hardworking and resilient individuals with a motivation to be a positive role model and make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people. Whether you have experience working in social care, or are looking for a change in career, we would love to hear from you.  We are currently looking to add to our strong team and are recruiting for full time permanent dayshift staff whom will be based at our GSC campus outside of Bishopton. 

Through ensuring that the work is in keeping with legislative, procedural and good practice requirements and guidance, the overall focus of the role is to build trusting relationships with young people within a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment.  You will work as part of a team to support young people to meet their needs, achieve their goals and build hope for their future.

At GSC we have embarked on a journey with new strategic goals which are ambitious for our young people and the ways we want to grow and develop our services.

Job Type - Permanent & full time (37.5 hour working week)

Salary Scale: Tr Pt £24,500.48 – Pt 1 £26,027.70. This will increase in line with the Good Shepherd Centre Salary scales for every year of service completed up to & including 10 years in line with SSSC conditions met.
